Mountain View Ranch is a sprawling, self-catering farm lodge that is located on a privately owned ranch just below Highmoor Nature Reserve. Ideal for outdoor enthusiasts, a large group, or a family looking for a tranquil breakaway.
The farmhouse is tastefully decorated and comprises 6 bedrooms and a very large open-plan living area. Five of the bedrooms are equipped with queen beds and the sixth room has 2 double bunk beds for 4 children or can be converted to 2 single beds for adults. These bedrooms all have wall heaters electric blankets for winter and fans for summer. All the bedrooms have magnificent mountain views and lead onto a large wrap-around veranda with outdoor seating.
The spacious kitchen is fully equipped, with 2 fridge-freezers, a gas hob and stove, a microwave, an ice machine, and Nespresso machine, and a large dining table. Leading off the kitchen is a piazza area with a fireplace, and another dining table as well as a pizza oven. The lounge has comfortable couches and a fireplace and leads to a covered wrap-around veranda, boasting another dining area, a gas and a Weber braai, and views of the paddocks and Mount Lebanon. We have recently built a boma fireplace with a wood-burning hot tub for winter and a plunge pool for summer.
There is an outside games room with a pool table, tennis table, foosball, and a darts board.
The Farm is set on 24 hectares of paddocks, with Nguni, rescued horses, blesbok, and guinea fowl freely roaming the pastures. Take a walk down to the little dam which is perfect for a dip, a meander, or even a spot of fly fishing. Make use of the picnic spot for late afternoon sundowners.
The Kamberg Valley offers an array of activities for guests to experience, such as cycling, hiking, fly-fishing, horse riding, and mountain biking trails, to name but a few.

11 guests' feedbackWe and four other families had a great stay at Mountain View Ranch. The house is very spacious and the children had fun playing on the large lawn. The farm managers were also very friendly and helpful. I was glad we drove a van as the road gets a bit rough at the end. Will definitely book here again.
All was fantastic, except that we all agreed that it needed a built-in braai.
A short but rewarding break from the grind of life. Beautiful location and ample space to relax in the Highmoore area of the Berg.
A great family get together venue with lots of space and amenities.
Very well equipped. Everything we needed. Lovely surroundings. The only problem I have is that it was much further to travel from Nottingham Road than expected. The website said 20 minutes. It took us at least 50 minutes. Even if the roads were in a much better condition, it would still take much longer than 20 minutes, but overall a fantastic experience.
Lovely accommodation. Real farm atmosphere. It offers everything you look for in the mountains.
Very well equipped house. Beautiful area and nice place to relax. Mountainbike routes at nearby Glengarry is great.
Thank you for a wonderful weekend! Comfortable, spacious, and well equipped accommodation. Friendly, helpful and unobtrusive hosts. Absolutely beautiful location close enough to the Midlands Meander. I would suggest at least 3 nights to appreciate both the Meander and hikes, especially if you're coming from JHB.
We loved to come home from the beautiful surroundings to enjoy the big stoep, cozy lounge with fireplace and well equipped kitchen. Special mention the cleaning angel Sebe and nanny Londi!

Mountain View Ranch has all the comforts of a permanent home, from kitchen equipment to bedding. The games room is a nice way to pass the time. Hester is a gem, she brought us fresh eggs for breakfast daily! Maybe you should just mention on the information that there is no TV. We prefer our holidays that way, it's better family time and there is a bookshelf full of books available, but for some guests this might be a problem. We had a lovely walk at Highmoor, it's only a few kilometers down the road.
